The Message of the Cross(5) – Providence of Placing the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

[Genesis 2: 16- 17]
“And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; [17] but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.”

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

When you raise children who are about two to three years old, they may be harmed touching or eating dangerous things in the house..
For example, suppose there is some poison in the house. Even if the parents tell the children, “You must never drink this,” they do not understand what it means.

That is why the parents hide dangerous things from the children or just remove such things from the house.

They just remove the harmful substances from the house to begin with, so that their children will not be harmed. I think you would do the same, right?

But in the Bible, there is a strange matter. It is about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
God created man in His own image and loved the first man Adam so very much. He put His beloved Adam in the Garden of Eden to live, but He also placed the tree of the knowledge of good and evil there too but, If Adam ate from it, he would surely die.

Adam still ate from the tree, and he and his descendants all became sinners who had to face the punishment of death. Why, then, did God place such a dangerous tree in the garden?

Didn’t God know that Adam would eat from it? Then, does it means God had something He did not know, so we cannot say He is all-knowing? However, if the Almighty God placed the tree there knowing everything, does that mean He did not love Adam?

Of course not! God knew everything and He loved Adam very much. That is why He placed the tree of the knowledge of good and evil there.
Today, it is the fifth session of the message of the cross, and I will explain to you about the providence of God’s placing the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in Eden.

I hope you will realize God’s providence and love embedded in the tree of the knowledge of good and evil through this message.
I bless in the name of the Lord that, by realizing it, you will become God’s children who love Him from the depth of your hearts, and be loved by Him.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ and viewing audiences, when Adam was first created, although his appearance was that of a grown-up adult, he still was just like a new-born baby as far as knowledge is concerned. It is just like a brand-new high-tech computer that has no data input in it.

From this situation, Adam began to gain all kinds of knowledge step by step directly from God.

He learned about God, the spiritual realm, truth, goodness, light, and many other things of spiritual knowledge, including the knowledge needed to rule over everything. After Adam gained sufficient knowledge, he finally had the qualifications to rule over and subdue everything as the lord of all creation.

Genesis 2:19 says, “Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.”

Today, even the best avian scholar would not be able to know all the names and characteristics of all the birds on the earth. But Adam knew the characteristics and ecology all of not only all the birds but also all animals so that he could name all of them appropriately.

With this kind of amazing knowledge and wisdom, Adam and Eve began to multiply by giving birth to many children.

Genesis 1:28 says, “God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” As said, they gave birth to many children.

The fact that Adam and Eve gave birth to children in the Garden of Eden can be seen in the Bible.

In the first half of Genesis 3:16, God says, “I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children.” The phrase, ‘greatly increase’ tells us that Eve had already had some childbearing pain before.

For the baby to come out, the pelvis has to widen, so there had to be some pain.

But before the curse, the pain was less, but after that, God said it would increase greatly.

That is why there is tremendous pain with the labor in childbearing today.

But it is a fact that this pain of childbearing decreases as a woman gets rid of her sins and becomes sanctified.
In case of our church’s female members who try to become sanctified and lead a good Christian life, they have a relatively easy time in childbearing.

After they receive prayer with faith, they give birth within such a short time without much pain.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the Garden of Eden is a place where there is no disease, aging, or death. So much time passed while Adam and Eve lived in this garden that the people were able to multiply.

Saying that the history of the cultivation of mankind is for six thousand years, the six thousand years did not start from the moment Adam was created but from the time he was driven out to this earth.

An incalculable period of time passed from when Adam was created until he sinned. For this long period of time, Adam enjoyed great authority as the lord of all things, and he lacked nothing.

But when God let Adam live in the Garden of Eden, He prohibited Adam from one thing. He was not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:16-17 says, “And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; [17] but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.”

Angels were created only to obey God’s command unconditionally.

But to men, God gave them freewill. Men can obey or choose not to obey according to their own freewill.

After a long time had passed, Adam and Eve no longer kept God’s word on their minds. With their freewill, they eventually ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Until Adam and Eve ate from the tree, the serpent played a very important role. The enemy devil and Satan instigated the serpent to deceive Eve.

Today, most people feel disgusted or repulsed when they see snakes.

But it is not that men disliked snakes from the beginning, that is, at the time they were created. Men came to dislike snakes from the depth of their nature because men came to the way of death due to the serpent.

In fact, the snake, before it was cursed, was not repulsive at all. Just as all other creatures of God, they were also lovely and had a pleasant appearance.

The appearance of today’s snakes is the appearance that was changed to the worse by the curse of God, after it had deceived Eve. The serpent was not only lovely, but also very crafty.

Being crafty, in other words, means it has wisdom to gain the hearts of people.

The serpent was crafty so that it could please Eve and gain her heart. So, when the serpent tried to deceive her, it would be more likely that Eve would not be as careful.

When you lead a Christian life, in many cases, the enemy devil and Satan temp you to commit sins through those who are close to you. When you were tempted through your family, friends, or those whom you love, you are more likely to move away from the truth by them.

When Satan tempted Eve, it used the serpent, which was usually very close to Eve.

The serpent one day asked the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

And the woman answered, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, lest you die.'”

God actually said, “If you eat from it, you will surely die.” But because Eve did not keep God’s word in her heart, she answered, “lest you die.”

She changed God’s word as if she may or may not die by eating it. If we do not keep God’s word in mind but change it like this, we will be more easily tempted by Satan next time.

God’s command is not something that we may obey or may not obey.

If we obey, we gain life, but if we disobey, we go to death. For example, if God says, “Keep the Sabbath,” we must keep this in our heart and keep it in our lives.

If one keeps the Sabbath on some Sundays and does not keep it on other Sundays according to his thought, he would not even be saved.

When Eve changed the word of God as she did, the serpent was able to get in through this opening.

The serpent said, “You will not surely die, for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” In Eve’s standpoint, she did not even want to eat from the tree since it was prohibited by God.

But when she accepted the temptation of the serpent, she wanted to become like God. So, when she looked at the tree now, it looked completely different. Since the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life were agitated, the fruit looked good for food and pleasing to the eye. It was also now desirable for gaining wisdom.

So, she violated the command of God and ate from the tree, and even gave the fruit to her husband, Adam, to eat it.

It is the same with you. For example, when you definitely want to keep the Sabbath, you will not have any desire to go on a picnic or watch TV on Sundays.

But your friends come and tempt you, telling you to come with them on a picnic to a beautiful place over the weekend.

Then, you must firmly drive away this temptation. If you accept it in your heart, you will have many kinds of thoughts of playing on Sunday and wanting to see beautiful sights and so on.

You might even accept the temptation and violate Sunday. That creates a great wall of sin between you and God.

As a result of Adam and Eve’s disobeying God’s command, God’s word that said, “you will surely die,” was realized in their lives.

According to the law of the spiritual realm in Romans 6:23, “the wages of sin is death,” they had to pay the price of their sin.

Of course, Adam and Eve did not immediately die at the moment they ate from the tree. But God’s word saying, “You will surely die,” was not only about physical death.

It meant the more original death, which is the death of spirit. Our visible body is only a shell to contain our spirit, and most important things for men are the spirit and soul that are contained in the body.

Men’s spirit can live by receiving life from God through communication with Him, but after Adam became a sinner, he could not communicate with God any more.

So, men were cut off from God. The enemy devil and Satan took men as their own and caused them to commit the sins that finally leads them to hell.

Even though the body dies, decays and disappears, the spirits of men are not extinguished. So, it is the spirit that receives eternal punishment in hell. Likewise, when the communication between Adam and God were disconnected, we say Adam’s spirit died.

Due to the sin of Adam, not only Adam himself was cursed, but also all his descendants became sinners like Adam and were also subject to death.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, it is not only men that were cursed by Adam’s sin. All the things on earth that were under the control of Adam were also cursed. Genesis 3:17 says, “To Adam he said, ‘Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat of it,’ ‘Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.'”

Before, they only had to take from the trees that bore abundant fruits. But now, since the ground was cursed to produce thorns and thistles, Adam had to toil and by the sweat of his brow so he could gain food.

Also, on the cursed land, many diseases and harmful living organisms came into being, which had not existed before. Men also came to suffer from tests and trials brought on them by the enemy devil and Satan.

Among the cursed things of this earth, the serpent was the most cursed.

Genesis 3:14 says, “So the LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.” Have you seen a snake eating dust? Snakes live on rats, frogs, birds, or insects.

Here, ‘serpent’ refers to the enemy devil and Satan spiritually, and the dust figuratively represents men, who were made from dust.

The serpent eating the dust means that the enemy devil and Satan will take the fleshly men as their food to bring to them tests, trials, and disasters.

As said, those who commit sins and corrupt into flesh come to suffer many kinds of pains under the control of the enemy devil and Satan.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, as I briefly mentioned in the beginning of the message today, when they hear about Adam’s committing a sin, people might have a question. It is, “Why did God create the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the first place?”

If God had not placed the tree there, Adam would not have eaten from it. Then, he would not have committed a sin, so that he would not have had to receive the punishment of death. God certainly knew that Adam would eat from it, and He loved Adam very much, but still, He placed the tree.

What is the reason? Conclusively speaking, God placed the tree of the knowledge of good and evil to give true happiness to Adam.
Please listen carefully to what this means. The Garden of Eden, where Adam was living, was such a beautiful and peaceful place that lacked nothing.

Adam, who was living in this garden, was very happy, wasn’t he? NO, he was not happy.

More precisely, he could not feel anything like happiness. It is because he never experienced unhappiness, which is the opposite of happiness.

Adam never experienced any disease, death, or accident in the Garden of Eden, so he never suffered any sorrow or pain due to those things. Of course, when God explained to him what unhappiness is, he could understand it mentally, but until he himself experienced it, he could not realize in his heart how painful it is to be unhappy.

For men to realize the true value of something, they must have experience with the opposite of something to learn the relativity of the two things.

Suppose you have never been ill since you were born. Then, you would not feel in your heart what the pain and sorrow of having sickness is like, no matter how much explanation you hear.

If you see somebody suffering from a disease, you might have some feeling about it, but you can never feel the pain of being sick.

This kind of person can have little true thankfulness for his good health.

But if a healthy person becomes ill, he would realize the importance of health deeply in his heart and be grateful for being healthy. It is the same with everything. Only those who have suffered hunger can be truly thankful for abundant food. Only when there is evil, can we realize goodness is really good. Only when there is darkness can we realize how precious light is. Without poverty we will not be thankful for being rich. If there is no hatred, we would not know love is good.

Adam, who was living in the Garden of Eden where there was no unhappiness whatsoever, could not realize his happiness. Since he had never seen death, he could not fully comprehend in his heart what it meant when God said, “you will surely die.”

God loved Adam very much and supplied him with everything, but Adam could not thank God from the depth of his heart.

But after he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and was driven out from the garden, all things were changed. As Adam had to live in the cursed world, he came to suffer from many things that he had not known before.

Experiencing hunger, tiredness, coldness, hotness, death, parting, sorrows and pain caused by sins, Adam could realize how happy he used to be in the Garden of Eden.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, if men live without feeling true happiness, what is the meaning of their lives although they live in comfort?
Rather, even though we have to suffer for a short time, if we can realize happiness through the short suffering, that life would be a valuable part of life.

Physical parents do not raise their children only in the house even though they love their children so much. Outside the house, there are temptations of bad friends and such dangers as traffic accidents and contagious diseases.

But, because the children can become fully grown-ups after going to school and experiencing this society, the parents send their children out into the world.

It is the same with God the Father. It would be good if Adam could realize happiness in his heart and give thanks to God as a child who loved God. But unlike God the Creator, a creature, such as man, cannot realize the relativity of things unless he himself has experience.

That is why God placed the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, to let man experience unhappiness and pains, so that he could genuinely understand relativity [and not just the concept of it in his brain].

But this does not mean that God guided Adam to commit a sin. It is just that God allowed Adam to choose with his own freewill.

Adam finally ate from the tree of the knowledge with his freewill, and mankind came to suffer from many kinds of pains such as coldness, hotness, diseases, poverty, hunger, paring, loss, and death.

When we get to the heavenly kingdom after we go through the process of human cultivation on this earth where we suffer, we will realize how good the life in the kingdom of heaven is.

We will be able to feel deep in our heart that the heavenly kingdom, where there is no sin or unhappiness, is so good since we have already experienced sins, diseases, sorrows, and death on this earth.

We will give thanks to God from the depth of our heart for giving us such a wonderful heavenly kingdom and to live in joy eternally. In that day, even after a long time, we will not change negatively like Adam who was not able to keep God’s word in his mind.

It is because we know not only as knowledge in our head, but because we have experienced the relativity, we clearly know that heavenly kingdom is so good. Thus, we will not change as time goes by, but rather our love and thanksgiving will increase more and more.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Adam came to experience unhappiness by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He could then realize how happy his life used to be in the Garden of Eden.

But when he realized this fact, he had already become a sinner. His communication with God was disconnected and his spirit already died. He could not go back to the garden or get back to the previous happy life.

Not only Adam and Eve but also all their descendants were destined to receive the punishment of death as sinners. Now, what can we do about it? How can we, born as mankind who are all sinners, escape from the punishment of death?

God from the beginning knew Adam would eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and commit the sin. So, even before He placed the tree of the knowledge, God had prepared the way of salvation for mankind.

He prepared the way before the time began to save the mankind who are sinners from the punishment of death, without violating the law of the spiritual realm.

What, then, is that way of salvation? I will tell you about this beginning in the next session.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, viewing audiences, now, do you understand why God placed the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?

If you realize the will of God in placing the tree of the knowledge, you cannot help but admire the amazing providence of God. You will naturally give thanks to God for His love for give us the opportunity to receive eternal happiness. Those who realize this fact and have hope for heaven will have only thanksgiving and joy, no matter what kind of life they lead on this earth.

That is why 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 says, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. [18] So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

No matter what kind of sorrow or pains we suffer on this earth, it is only momentary for us. After this life, we will enjoy the glorious heavenly kingdom and eternal happiness forever and ever.

I hope you will realize the love of God who wants to give us true happiness. Therefore, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will lead a Christian life overflowing with joy with your thanks to God and hope for heaven.

The Message of the Cross(4) – God Created Men

[Genesis 1: 27-28] [Genesis 2: 7]
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. [28] God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,,

This is the fourth session of the message of the cross, and I will talk about God who created men. God has neither beginning nor end; He existed from before the eternity that nobody can fathom.

Then, at a certain point in time, God made a plan. It was plan to create the heaven an earth and human beings. To accomplish this plan, God prepared all the things one by one over a long period of time.

First, from the spiritual space where He had been dwelling, God divided the physical space where He would create all things and human beings.

Then, God divided God the Son and God the Holy Spirit from originally one God to become the Trinity. From this moment, God put a certain image, and it is the image that we men have now.

In the spiritual realm, He made the spiritual beings such as heavenly host and angels and cherubim. In the physical space, He made the earth on which the human beings would live.

After He finished all the preparations, God began to create the heavens and the earth in full scale. Genesis chapter 1 briefly tells us about the process of God’s 6-day creation.

On the first day, He created light; on the second day, the expanse, and on the third day, He divided the land and sea and made plants, vegetation, and trees bearing fruit. On the fourth day, He made the sun, the moon, and the stars in the sky; and on the fifth day, living things in the sea and birds.

On the sixth day, He made livestock and animals that move along the ground. Lastly, He created the human being. His work of dividing the physical space from the spiritual realm, and creating the heavens and the earth and all things was after all for the creation of men.

Just as the parents decorate the baby’s room and prepare everything for the baby even before he/she is born, God made the suitable environment for men and created them so that they could enjoy everything.

Why, then, did God create men? Why does He let so many people live on this earth until today? If you can answer this question, you will be able to get the answer to why you live and how you should live.

In order to know the true value of men, you first have to know God’s purpose of creating human beings. You can live a truly meaningful and valuable life when you live up to the purpose of being born into this world.

I hope you will realize the purpose of God’s creating men through this message.

I pray in the name of the Lord that you will be able to confess, “I have lived a truly valuable life,” when you end your life on this earth.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Genesis 2:7 says, “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” God created the heavens and the earth by His Word, but He Himself formed the man from the dust of the ground.

He molded not only the outer appearance but also internal organs, bones and muscles, and all the tissues perfectly.

After God made the man very sophisticatedly, He breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Since this time, the man became a living spirit.

But when they hear this, some people say they cannot believe it. They doubt how an image made from the dust of ground can have life and move around.

But even men, a mere creature, can make robots that are similar to men, as they accumulate knowledge. They make computers that are somewhat like human brain; they can even make artificial internal organs or skin.

When they assemble elaborate parts to make a machine and connect it to electricity, it moves as if it is alive.

Even men as creatures can do these things. Then, why would it be difficult for God the almighty to create men? It is just men have made their limit in their thoughts that they cannot believe in the power of God.

Even today, God shows us works of creation for us to think beyond our own limits of thoughts.

In our church’s revival meetings or in overseas crusades, there are many people who experience the work of creation of God. For example, people whose legs were different in length due to infantile paralysis or traffic accidents experienced that the length of their legs became equal.

The shortened legs became longer by 2 cm, 4 cm, or 8 cm. For example, deaconess Heekyung Song’s left leg was 4 cm shorter than the right one due to congenital cerebral palsy.

She had to limp when walking, and because her spine and the hipbone were twisted, it was hard for her to stand or walk for a long time.

Meanwhile, she received prayer in revival meeting in 1997, and at the moment, her shorter leg became longer so that she could stand up straight.

The spine that had been bent due to shorter leg was straightened, the twisted hipbone also became normal, and her height became taller by 3 cm.

For a shorter leg to be lengthened like this, not only the bones, but also the muscles, nerves, and the skin tissues must be renewed altogether. By the prayer, God performed a work of creation to make all these parts complete.

Also, in 2002, we had a united crusade attended by a total of 3 million people at Marina Beach, Chennai, India. A boy called Ganesh attended this meeting. He had a tumor in his hipbone and received a surgery to remove a part of the hipbone and hip-joint.

A metal plate was inserted to connect the remaining portion of the hip joint with the thigh bone.
In the X-ray picture, you can clearly see the metal plate and the bolts on the bone.

Even after he received this surgery, Ganesh still suffered from pain, and he could not walk without crutches.

But when he received the prayer at the crusade, all his pain was gone immediately, and he came to walk and run by himself without crutches. He can even play cricket.

Some time later, we heard that his bones, of which some part was removed, grew up again, so that he could now remove the metal plate and the bolts.

God the Creator can lengthen shorter legs, make one walk even without a bone at the necessary parts, and make a removed bone grow gain. Through these works of creation, we can surely believe that God created men.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, God the Creator, after He made Adam and Eve, gave them the seed of life so that they could have offspring. He gave them sperm of man and egg of woman. In the sperm and egg are concentrated the life energy of the parents.

In such a small seed of life, parents’ appearances, characters, intelligence, and habits are all contained so the children resemble the parents. God is the one who gave this seed of life to produce children and He is also the one who gives conception through the seed.

The baby is made by the combination of the sperm and egg of the parents, but the conception itself is controlled by God. Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, if the children resemble the parents and ancestors, whom did Adam, the ancestor of mankind, resemble?

Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

Adam and Eve were made after the image of the holy God. The image here does not only refer to outer appearance. The more important for a man is his spirit, and his body is just a vessel to contain the spirit.

The more important meaning of saying that man is created in God’s image is that his spirit came from God’s spirit, and it is made after the image of God’s spirit.

When Adam was first created, his spirit was filled only with goodness, light, and truth just like God who is holy and pure.

But since Adam ate from the tree of the knowledge, mankind came to be stained with sins and evil. Unlike when he was first created, he lost the image of the holy God.

Therefore, what we have to do as believers in God is to recover the lost image of the holy God. We should love God and live a changed life according to the word of God.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the mankind has long been trying to get the answer to the question, “Why do we live?” But we can find the clear answer for the purpose of our lives only when we acknowledge God the Creator.

We first have to realize why God created men and cultivates them on this earth. Now, I used expression ‘cultivation’, and this is from parables in the Bible.

There are many parables in the Bible, and among them are many about cultivating the land, farming, and harvesting fruits and wheat.

For example, in Matthew chapter 13, Jesus compared the heart of men with four kinds of land.

He explained the measure of bearing truth as fruit is different according to on what kinds of hearts the seed of God’s word falls.

Also, He explained about the judgment through the parables of wheat and chaff in Matthew chapter 3, and the parable of weeds and wheat in Matthew chapter 13. Souls who are like the wheat will go to the barn of the kingdom of heaven but the souls who are like the weeds and chaff will fall into the fire of hell.

Through these Biblical parables, God lets us know that His creating men on this earth and leading the human history is like ‘cultivation’. Just as farmers plow the land and cultivate, God also cultivates us like a farmer.

That is why we can say God’s providence of creating us human beings and letting us live on this earth is the providence of ‘human cultivation’. Then, why did God create Adam and has been cultivating men until today?

Conclusively speaking, the purpose of human cultivation is to gain true children. God wanted to gain children with whom He could share His love. God the Creator has the power of the Deity, the authority as the Judge, and strict justice as a divine being.

But at the same time, He also has humane nature such as love, compassion, and mercy.
He sometimes rejoices and becomes happy, or becomes sad or laments at other times.

Because He has humane nature, He wanted to have somebody with whom He could share His love rather than being alone. That is why He planned to create and cultivate men.

Of course, even though He did not make men, He had countless angels and heavenly hosts.

They are beings that only obey God unconditionally; they worshipped, praised, and gave glory to God.

They are not beings that choose to obey or not in different situations but only obey unconditionally. But God wanted true children who could obey with their freewill and love stemming from their heart unlike these angels.

Let me give you an example.

A person has a son, and he sometimes makes troubles and breaks the heart of his parents.

But when his parents scold him, he repents, asks for forgiveness, and comes to the parents in a lovely and winsome way. As he gets older, he comes to understand the heart of his parents.

His thanks and love for the grace of his parents become greater as much as he understands his parents. But let us say in his house is a high-tech robot.

This robot is made in human shape. It can even speak and obeys all the commands. It can do even hard works without any difficulty to benefit the people. It will never give any trouble or break the heart of the parents like the son mentioned just now.

Then, which one would you want more? Will you say you wouldn’t need a son because you have the high-tech, well-obeying robot?

No matter how well a robot obeys and it resembles men, we cannot compare it with our own children with whom we can share our heart.

God wanted to gain this kind of true children with whom He could share His heart. Rather than heavenly host and angels who are made only to obey, He wanted true children who would obey willingly with love for God. That is why He made men.

If He gained true children who know His heart and obey Him from the depth of their heart, He would lead them to the eternal kingdom of heaven and let them enjoy only joy and happiness.

But when you farm, you will not gain only wheat. Although the farmer tries his best, there is not only wheat but also chaff at the time of harvest.

You cannot eat the chaff, and if you put the chaff with the wheat in the barn, even the wheat will become inedible. Therefore, you can just use the chaff only for fertilizer or you have to burn them.

In the same way, after God cultivates human beings, He will separate the wheat and the chaff at the end.

Matthew 3:12 says, “His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” Here, the ‘unquenchable fire’ refers to the fire of hell.

When the end that is set by God comes, God will end the human cultivation and judge everybody who has lived on this earth. At this time, those who have not become the wheat but the chaff will fall into the fire of hell through the judgment.

Then, what kind of people is wheat that enters the heavenly kingdom and chaff that falls into hell? The wheat is those who have accepted Jesus Christ, love God, and live according to God’s Word.

They are the ones who have diligently gotten rid of evil and recovered the lost image of God.

On the contrary, the chaff is those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. They are the ones who live in untruth and darkness.

But the important thing is that not everyone who attends church is wheat.

Even though they profess with their lips they believe in the Lord, if they do not live according to God’s Word but live in sins following the lust of the world, they are not wheat but chaff.

That is why Matthew 7:21 says, “Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, 1 Timothy 2:4 says, “[God] wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

God wants everybody to come to know His heart, become the wheat, and reach salvation. That is why He even gave His one and only Son Jesus for crucifixion.

Nevertheless, those who have not accepted the Lord as their Savior or those who still live in sins cannot recover the value of God’s true children who are made in the image of God. They cannot become God’s true children.

Since they cannot do the duty of men, they are no different than animals, and nothing but chaff. God cannot bring this chaff that has lost the value of men into the kingdom of heaven along with souls who have come out as wheat.

What will happen if God lets those who hate, envy, fight, and have all kinds of evil into the kingdom of heaven?

Then, the kingdom of heaven will no more be happy, beautiful, and glorious place.
So, what will happen to those souls who cannot come into the kingdom of heaven? Will they just be extinguished?

Even the souls who are chaff, since they have received the breath of life from God, exist forever and cannot be extinguished. So, there needs to be a place to keep them forever.

That place is hell. Those souls who have become chaff will be punished according to the wages of their sins in the eternal fire.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, viewing audiences, so far, you listened about why God made men and cultivates them on this earth.

Now, can you answer to the question, “Why do we live?”

We live to become the wheat according to the purpose of God’s cultivating us. First of all, we should believe in God the Creator, and then accept Jesus Christ as our Savior. Also, we should obey the word of God and change ourselves by the power of the Holy Spirit to live a holy life.

If you do this, God will recognize you as His true children with whom He can share His love. He will then later lead you into the beautiful kingdom of heaven and enjoy eternal happiness and joy with you.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, there certainly are heaven and hell.

God has let me know a lot about heaven and hell through deep spiritual communication, and He has shown visions, too.

We published those contents into books, and there are many requests for this book from all over the world.

Right now, it is translated into English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, Tamil, and Russian, and translations into more languages are scheduled.

Heaven is such a beautiful and happy place. The almighty God decorated the heavenly kingdom in the best way for His beloved children.

Even the most magnificent place on this earth cannot compare to heaven, because the heavenly kingdom is made by God the Creator’s wisdom and power that cannot be compared to the ability of men.

For example, gold, which is considered very valuable on this earth, is only the pavement of the road in the heavenly kingdom. Also, all kinds of beautiful jewels, pearls, and crystals decorate the houses so beautifully.

The color and luster of each of the jewel is completely different from that of this earth.

For example, the beauty of carnelian in heaven is just so different than that of this earth just as we cannot compare the luster of glass and diamond.

Even the glittering of tree leaves and the ecstasy of the scent of flowers in heaven are so magnificent and beautiful beyond human imagination.

In the Bible the apostle Paul said he had seen ‘paradise’, and paradise is the lowest dwelling place in heavenly kingdom.

Just by seeing the lowest level of dwelling place in heaven, he gained such great strength and hope. Even in such severe trials and persecutions, he could rejoice and give thanks and live for the Lord for his whole life.

Only if we know what kind of place heaven is, we can overcome any kind of difficulties on this earth with thanks and joy.

God is cultivating human beings on this earth to lead you and me to this kind of place.
He so eagerly wants to gain true children who resemble God and have holy and sanctified heart.

I hope you will realize why you are being cultivated on this earth through this message.

I pray in the name of the Lord that you will be able to live forever in the heavenly kingdom sharing love with God as His true children.

The Message of the Cross(3) – God the Creator (3)

[Genesis 1: 1],
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
[2 Timothy 3: 16]
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,”

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Today is the 3rd session of the “Message of the Cross”. I will continue explaining our last two sessions dealing with what kind of entity God is.

First, God is the Creator of all things.

Human beings and all things did not come to existence by chance. They were designed and created by God the Creator. Secondly, God is “I AM WHO I AM.” Nobody gave birth to God or created Him but He existed by Himself from before the eternity, and He will exist throughout eternity.

Thirdly, God is omniscient and omnipotent. God is able to do even the things that cannot be done by human ability. God knows all things about the past, present, and the future.

I explained up to this point in this in last two sessions.

Today I will tell you about the fourth aspect of God, the author of the Bible.

I hope you will certainly believe that the Bible and God’s Word are true through today’s message.

I pray in the name of the Lord that, in your belief, you will obey and practice God’s Word and receive all the blessings promised in the Bible.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, when you come to church everyone receives a bit the Bible. The way of salvation is clearly written in the Bible.

It explains why God created human beings, how He leads human history, and about the beginning and the end of human cultivation.

It also clearly tells about heaven and hell, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the duty of men.

When you believe and practice these things, you will gain salvation and life. Then you will gain the qualifications to enter the heavenly kingdom.

There are countless books in this world. But, only the Bible can give salvation and life to men.

Then, who wrote this Bible? The Bible consists of 66 books as a whole: 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament. It is known that total 34 people recorded the Bible: 26 people for the Old Testament and 8 people for the New Testament.

For example, Genesis was recorded by Moses, and the Ecclesiastes by Solomon. Isaiah was recorded by Isaiah.

In the New Testament, the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are named for their recorders, the epistles were recorded by the apostle Paul, Peter, James, and Judah.

It took total 1,600 years for the Bible to be recorded: 1,500 years for the Old Testament and 100 years for the New Testament.

The Bible is the collection of books written by 34 people over a period of 1,600 years.

But the author of the whole Bible is God.

As said before, there were 34 writers, but they were not the authors but ghostwriters.

Let me give you an example. Let us say a mother who is living with her elder son wants to write to her younger son who is living apart.

This mother tells her elder son the contents of the letter for him to write it.

Then, whose letter is this? Is this a letter of the elder son since he wrote it?

No, it isn’t. Although it was written by the elder son, the contents were from the mother.

In the same way, the content of the Bible is the Word of God. God moved those who were appropriate in His sight and had them write under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

About this, 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

2 Peter 1:21 says, “For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

Isaiah 34:16 says, “Look in the scroll of the LORD and read: None of these will be missing, not one will lack her mate. For it is his mouth that has given the order, and his Spirit will gather them together.”

Although there are many writers of the Bible, the whole Bible never conflicts with itself having consistency as if it were written by one person.

It is because it was written by God the almighty through the works of the Holy Spirit.

Because the Bible is recorded by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, you must also interpret it with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

2 Peter 3:16 says, “He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.”

If you do not interpret the Bible by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, but with human thoughts, you will understand it differently than God intends. You will fall into destruction.

If you interpret the Bible with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, you will be able to realize that the verses match one another.

It is as said, “None of these will be missing, not one will lack her mate.”

Just as beads must be threaded to become a necklace, each verse is completed through the mating with the verses that complement and make it perfect and complete in it’s spiritual meaning.

Let me give you an easy example. Acts 2:21 says, “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But with only this verse, we cannot understand the will of God about salvation completely.

As said in Matthew 7:21, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven,” we cannot meet the condition of salvation only by calling on the name of the Lord.

Therefore, Romans 10:10 says, “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

Namely, only those who have been justified by believing in their heart will be saved by confessing with their lips.

What then, is to be believed? James 2:14 says, “What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?” Those who are justified by believing in their hearts will be followed by the evidences of their deeds.

If you truly believe that Jesus died to forgive your sins, actions will follow as you live according to God’s word.

Since you love God and the Lord who gave His life for you, you would not want to hurt God’s heart and you should naturally begin to cast off sins.

Also, if you truly believe the love of the Lord, you will love your brothers as your selves.

You will not hate, envy, judge, condemn, or seek your own benefit, but serve, sacrifice, and help the needy to show the evidence of your faith with deeds.

But the deeds are not only outward displays. Romans 3:28 says, “For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law.”

No matter how much you practice the truth, if you don’t do it with faith, you cannot be justified by deeds alone.

Your heart should become holy because you believe in the Lord, and your deeds must come from the holiness of the heart as complete deeds.

Therefore, to ‘believe in the heart’ means to make your heart holy from which holy deeds can come. Namely, it is to circumcise your heart.

When a man circumcises his heart by believing in this way and confesses the name of the Lord with his lips, he will receive salvation.

If you did not know the ‘mates” or complements of these verses, you might misunderstand the truth thinking, ‘I will be saved only if I accept Jesus as my Savior,’ or ‘I will be saved even though I live in sins if I just believe in heart.’

So, in this case, you will keep on committing sins, and consequently, you will not gain life but rather go to destruction.

Likewise, to know the will of God correctly in each verse, you have to know the mating verses. This way, you can completely understand the correct spiritual meaning.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the Bible is the Word of God, and all the words in it are true.

This can also be testified to throughout history. You can see in the Old Testament that the history of Israel, the historical events and people, and the places and customs are very realistic.

Also, as I mentioned last time, there are many prophecies in the Bible, and each of them is being fulfilled.

For example, Luke 19:43:44 says, “The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. [44] They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”

This is the prophecy by Jesus about the destruction of Jerusalem.

About 40 years after this prophecy, around 70 AD, the city of Jerusalem was destroyed by General Titus of Roman Empire. The process was just as Jesus had prophesied.

Roman army built an embankment around the city wall. After they conquered the city, they brutally killed the children and destroyed all the buildings not leaving any stone on another.

In addition to this, there are prophecies about many historical events, and most important of them are the prophecies about Jesus. To fulfill the way of the salvation, which is the main subject matter of the Bible, the Savior had to come to save mankind who are all sinners.

So, God gave detailed prophesy in many places of the Old Testament about Jesus who would become the Messiah: His birth, ministry, sufferings, and resurrection.

When the time came, as God had promised, He sent Jesus to this earth. The New Testament records in detail about Jesus fulfilling the prophecies of the Old Testament.

Let us review some of them. The first is about the birth of Jesus.

In Genesis 3:15, God tells us that the Savior would come among the people of Israel.

When He cursed the serpent, He said, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

Here, ‘woman’ spiritually refers to Israel. It is obvious for a man to be born of a woman. The reason why God still says it is because there is spiritual meaning in it.

Revelation 12:5 says, “She gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter. And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne.” It testifies to Jesus who came through a woman, that being the people of Israel.

Isaiah 7:14 says, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”

Micah 5:2 says, “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”

As prophesied, Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary in the stable of lodge in Bethlehem.

Also, after Jesus was born, King Herod ordered all boys under the age of 2 killed in an attempt to kill Jesus.

But at that time, God moved Jesus to Egypt through the dream of Joseph.

After King Herod died, God called them back to Israel through another dream.

In the Old Testament, Hosea 11:1 prophesies concerning this saying, “out of Egypt I called my son.”

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, he rode on a donkey as prophesied in Zechariah 9:9.

It is said, “Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

Also, as said in Psalm 41:9, “Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me,” Judas Iscariot, who was receiving the bread of God’s word at the closest distance, betrayed and sold Jesus.

As said in Zechariah 11:12, ‘”If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.’ So they paid me thirty pieces of silver,” Judas Iscariot sold Jesus for thirty silver coins.

In addition to these, many places in Isaiah, Psalms, and Zechariah prophesy in great detail how Jesus would suffer, in what kind of tomb He would be buried, how He would resurrect from the dead and how He would ascend.

Likewise, many prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament were all fulfilled in the New Testament one by one.

Not only the Bible, but also history testifies to Jesus. Namely, the AD, with which we say this year is 2005AD, was started with the birth of Jesus.

Also, 1 Corinthians 15:6 says there are 500 people who witnessed the resurrected Lord.

It says, “After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.”

Through these witnesses, the resurrection of the Lord has been made known all over the world.

Up to this day, the fact that the words in the Bible about the Lord are all true and the words of God are spread through out the world.

Also, those who hear and believe these things can meet and experience God, the author of the Bible. When they believe and practice the word of promise given by God in the Bible, they can experience works of our God who keeps His promise and guarantees His words.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the Bible prophesies about the signs and the world situations during the last days before the Lord comes.

It also prophesies about our future things including the 7-year Great Tribulation, World War III, the Millennium, the Judgment Day, and about heaven and hell.

The Bible also tells us in detail how we, who are living in this kind of flow of history, can receive salvation and blessings and how we can get to the heavenly kingdom.

But some people, although they profess their faith in God, do not believe that the Bible is the Word of God.

There are some others who say they believe the Bible is the Word of God, but do not completely believe the words of the Bible. So, when the Bible does not agree with their thoughts or to their benefit, they will not act according to it.

The Bible is certainly the Word of God which is completely guaranteed by God.

Therefore, to those who believe in the promises in the Bible and practice them, God blesses them as He promised.

For example, Mark 9:23 says, “If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for him who believes.”

Mark 16:17-18 says, “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; [18] they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

As said, everything is possible for those who have perfect faith, even the signs of God’s power can be performed.

Also, Exodus 15:26 says, “He said, ‘If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.'”

As said, if you stay away from sins and keep God’s commands, no disease will fall on you.

Even if you get a disease by not living according to God’s commands, you can be healed after you break the wall of sin against God.

So, even when you receive a prayer from a powerful man of God to be healed of your disease or to solve your problem, you first have to repent.

After you repent deep in your heart and break the wall of sin, you can receive true faith from above. Our members always see, hear, and experience these words of God are all true.

For example, Deaconess Jung A Lee of Nissi Orchestra in our church, found a problem with her little daughter Hye Na in June 2002.

At that time, Hye Na was four months old. She could not sleep due to high fever, and her legs became weak and shaky.

She was diagnosed with a tumor in her hip joint. Her hip joint had an inflammation that was badly infected.

The doctor said, if the infection spread around the body along the veins, she could die within a week due to blood poisoning.

To make it worse, she was too young to receive surgery, and even if she received surgery, there was a strong chance that she would be disabled afterward. The deaconess was heartbroken seeing her daughter suffer and decided to rely on God and left the hospital.

While praying for her daughter, she realized it was her fault that her daughter became ill, and she began to repent of her sins.

She repented deep in her heart for having her faith cooled down, not praying, not being faithful in God’s kingdom, not being thankful to God, and not living according to God’s Word.

Then, with a peaceful mind, she came to me and received my prayer.

After the prayer, her daughter, who could not sleep crying, went to sleep peacefully. She soon gained strength in her legs and was able to move.

About a month later, through the MRI picture, Deaconess Jung A Lee was able to see that her daughter was completely healed.

The doctors said she would have disability even after surgery, and without surgery she would not live. But, she is growing up healthily to this day. Seeing these testimonies, you can realize that the Bible is true and that God attests to His words of promise in the Bible.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, and viewing audiences, in the three sessions through today’s, I explained about who God is.

God is the Creator of all things, He is “I AM WHO I AM,” He is omniscient and omnipotent, and the author of the Bible.

Of course, there are many other ways to explain Him.

God is light, love, the Judge of the final judgment, and our Father who loves you and me.

To the extent that you read the Bible, meditate on it, and act according to it, you will realize more things about God and surely meet the God the Father of love.

Proverbs 8:17 says, “I love those who love me and those who seek me find me.”

If we truly love somebody, we would want to do what that person wants us to do.

To love God and to seek Him is to believe in His Word, the Bible, and keep His Word.

Then, God will love you. He will give answer to your prayers and meet you saying, “Here I am. I heard your prayer.”

I hope you will certainly believe in your heart that the Bible is the Word of God and try your best to practice the commands in it.

I pray in the name of the Lord that God will love, meet, and bless you who are doing this, and lead you to New Jerusalem in the eternal heavenly kingdom.

The Message of the Cross(2) – God the Creator

[Genesis 1: 1]
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, there are many people who profess they believe in God, but many of them do not feel God’s love and do not have assurance of salvation.

When asked, “Who is the God in whom you believe?” many people cannot answer anything confidently.

A child should know about his father. He should be able to talk to his Father and share his love with him.

While professing you are a child of God, if you do not know about God the Father and have fellowship with Him, it is difficult to have the assurance of salvation and lead a life in Christ being full of the Holy Spirit.

The message of the cross preached in Sunday morning services clearly teaches you about God the Father and His providence for us. I hope you will realize what kind of person God the Father is through today’s message.

I pray in the name of the Lord that you will become God’s children who are able to praise the glory of God from the depth of your heart and share love with Him knowing His heart and will.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, members of the 2,400 branch churches all over the world in the United States, Canada, Honduras, Peru, Argentina, Germany, France, Russia, Belgium, Netherlands, and African countries including Kenya, Uganda, and Congo, and in China, Japan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, India, Mongolia, Egypt, and Korean branch churches and local sanctuary members, those who are attending the service on the Internet all over the world, and viewing audiences,

In the last session, I told you that God is the one and only Creator of all things. I told you the evidence of the Creator is clearly seen in His creatures and in His powerful works that cannot be done by men. Now, in this second message we meet the God that is “I AM WHO I AM.”

When they hear that God created the universe and all things in it, there are some people who ask: “Who made God the Creator”, “How long has God existed and what was there before He came into being?”

About this, Exodus 3:14 says, “God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM.'” Nobody gave birth to God or created Him.

God has existed even before eternity that human beings cannot fathom and will exist through out eternity.

But in the experience and knowledge of men, there is a beginning and an end to everything.

For example, men and animals have a beginning and end. They begin by being born into this world and end when they die and leave it. Even an old antique piece must have a beginning when it was made. All historical facts have beginning and end, too.

So, people wonder how God came into being, thinking that God should also have some kind of beginning.

But if you can think beyond the limit of human thoughts, it would be rather strange for the absolute being, God the Creator, to have any kind of beginning.

If God came into being from a certain point in time, there must have been something before that.

It means somebody else must have made God or that God Himself is not an absolute being. Thus, if God is the absolute and perfect god, He obviously cannot have a beginning or an end, and He must have existed by Himself at the origin.

Ladies and gentleman, what kind of form did God take on before the beginning of time, and how did He exist?

In today’s text, the ‘beginning’ refers to the time when God existed alone before everything was created. It is before the eternity that men, as mere creatures, cannot understand with their limited experience and knowledge.

It is written that “The Word is God,” about the God who has existed from before the beginning.

God did not have any form but existed as the Word itself, and this was the ‘voice’.
Also, 1 John 1:5 says, “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.”

Here, light and darkness have spiritual meanings. On the one hand, ‘darkness’ refers to everything that is not truth such as unrighteousness, unlawfulness, sins, and evil.

On the other hand, ‘light’ refers to everything that belongs to truth such as love, goodness, and righteousness. In the light there is no sin or evil.

God was not only spiritually the light but also existed as light in reality.

God was the Word who existed in the form of unimaginably beautiful and mysterious light with a chiming sound from within.

He existed as a clear and transparent, sweet and soft, yet mighty voice that could ring the whole universe in an extremely beautiful light that men cannot fathom.

As light and voice, at a certain point God conceived creation of human beings to have those with whom He could share His love.

In order to fulfill His plan for men, first of all, He divided Himself into the Trinity. From God the Father were divided from Him: the Son Jesus, who would later become the Savior of mankind, and the Holy Spirit, who is the Helper.

The three entities came to exist as separate beings, but their origin is the same. That is why we say, “God the Trinity.”
When the Trinity divided from the Father God, He took on a specific form.

Genesis 1:26 explains about that form. It is said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness.”
Namely, God the Trinity created men in His own image.
Of course, the image is not only outer appearance but also the heart of God.

But since the Fall of Adam, man’s heart no longer resembled the heart of God and man fell away from God. I will explain more about this in detail later.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, unlike men who are creatures, God is “I AM WHO I AM.” He existed before eternity and will exist beyond eternity.

The God who is “I AM WHO I AM,” is the only true and perfect God. Him alone should we worship and love. Some people don’t know this and worship idols that are made by men.

They shape them from metal, wood, or stone and then they bow down before them.

If your children do not recognize you but call other people ‘mom’ and ‘dad’, how sad you would be!

In the same way, when people do not seek God who is their Creator, but worship idols that are made by men, would it not cause our God to be heartbroken as well!

Therefore, God hates idol-worshipping. Exodus 20:3-5 says, “You shall have no other gods before me. [4] You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. [5] You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,”

Only God who exists by Himself is the true God and we have to worship Him only. Here, we have to remember one more thing.

It is a fact that it is not possible for anyone to have been a parent of Jesus, who came to this earth as the Savior, because His origin is the same as God the Creator.

Of course, for Jesus to come to this earth in flesh, He was born of the body of the Virgin Mary. But it is said in Matthew 1:18, “His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.”

He was not conceived by the combination of a sperm of a father and an egg of a mother like all men, but by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Virgin Mary was just as instrument to bare the Savior, and God just used her body for the moment.

Therefore, we can find that Jesus never called the Virgin Mary ‘mother’.

Instead, He always called her, ‘woman’. It is because a human being as a mere creature could not become the mother of God the Creator.

Some people worship the Virgin Mary just as they worship God.

But only God, as the Trinity, can be the object of worship. I hope you will only worship and give glory to God who is “I AM WHO I AM.”

Friends: Thirdly, God is omniscient and omnipotent, the all-knowing and all-powerful God. In the Bible there are many records about those who experienced with faith the power of God.

The Red Sea was parted and the sun and the moon stood still by God’s power. Fire from heaven fell down and it began to rain after a severe drought for three and a half years.

Jesus, whose origin is God Himself, manifested the very works of the omnipotent God.

He revived the dead and healed diseases and infirmities. He calmed down the wind and the sea and walked on water.

Even after the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, the power of God was manifested through the apostles. Especially in case of Peter, people brought the sick to him hoping that even his shadow might fall on the sick person.

In case of the apostle Paul, handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits departed.

The power of these apostles was so great that God’s works took place even through their shadows and handkerchiefs.
And Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

As said, the power of God manifested through Jesus Christ did not only take place at that time but it can be manifested even today.

These powerful works have been constantly taking place in this church since its founding.

Every week, we receive testimonies of healing of incurable diseases from all over the world. Moreover, people experience God’s amazing works even though they do not receive my prayer in person but only on the Internet or TV screen.

There are many couples who could not have a child for many years of marriage but were blessed to have children after receiving prayer.

Those who are in other countries send their prayer requests and photos through fax or email. When I pray laying my hands on the photos, God’s power is manifested transcending time and space.

Among them, a Pakistani girl named Cynthia was dying of a disease called Celiac.

She was too weak to even have surgery, and doctors had given up on her. But, her elder sister, who was then in Korea at the time, brought Cynthia’s photo to me and received my prayer.

From the moment I prayed on that photo, Cynthia began to recover her health, and soon she was released from the hospital. When I conduct revival meetings or overseas crusades, I cannot pray for everybody in person, so I just pray for everyone from the pulpit.

By that prayer countless people have been healed at once and glorified God.

In the Peru Crusade in December 2004, a 21-year-old young man, Immanuel Mora, was healed of AIDS.

After Immanuel was diagnosed with AIDS, he lost all hope in life and lived in great pain. In his beautiful youth, he now only was waiting for death.

Meanwhile, he heard the news about the Peru Crusade and attended it with his grandmother who had uterine cancer.

On the first day of the crusade, when Immanuel saw countless people being healed and giving testimonies after receiving prayer, he also gained faith that God is omnipotent.

The next day, he went to the bathroom while he was listening to the message. He saw the proof of God’s work. He had constant diarrhea, but he had a normal bowel movement for the first time in two months. Later, he was re-tested, and the number of his immune cells had recovered to normal levels.

His grandmother had vaginal bleeding before, but from the third day of the crusade, her bleeding stopped.

They just received the prayer right from the pulpit the same as the rest of the people.

But just by receiving that prayer, the power of the omnipotent God fell on them, and AIDS and uterine cancer were healed immediately.

Also, numerous people who could not come to the crusade location in person were also healed while watching the crusade on the Internet and through satellite TV, public TV broadcasts, and cable TV.

That is why we receive testimonies from all over the world by fax and email after each crusade.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the power of the omnipotent God is shown not only through healing works. When we ask with faith, we can see wonders.

A wonder is controlling or changing the weather and the conditions of the sky. Our church members have witnessed many times God’s control of the weather when we have outdoor events including summer retreats.

By fervent prayer very heavy rain was stopped at once and at an outdoor event, prayer brought clouds from all four sides to block the scorching sunshine.

We experience wonders in overseas crusades also. For example, in the Philippines crusade in 2001, it was a rainy season there.
According to the weather forecast, two hurricanes were coming towards our crusade’s location. The local people were worried seeing the strong winds of these two typhoons.
But before the crusade, I made a bold proclamation in the press conference. I said, “The typhoons will go away or die out so that they will not affect our crusade.”

By the confession of faith, one of the typhoons died out before it arrived in Philippines, and the other changed its course.

We had clear weather during the crusade, and the locals said it was a miracle. Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, other than these, there are just so many evidences of the omnipotent God that we cannot talk about them all even with several days.

We can no longer count all the miracles and signs in the healings of diseases and infirmities or the events of extraordinary power in the wonders of clouds, stars, and rainbows.

I hope all of you and all viewing audiences will believe in the omnipotent God. Then, you will also be able to experience His work transcending time and space.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, God is not only omnipotent but also omniscient. He knows the heart of man and things to come.

God, who knows everything, lets His men who communicate with Him know about the things to come and prophecy.

Amos 3:7 says, “Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.”

As said, there are many prophecies in the Bible that were revealed to the prophets by God.

There are detailed prophecies about the coming of the Savior, the destruction and reestablishment of Israel, and the world situations during the last days. The prophecies in the Bible have been fulfilled as stated, and there are some things that will be fulfilled as we move towards the end.

Even today, God lets those who communicate with Him know about future things. In our church, I delivered to you many prophecies revealed by God.

For example, in 1987, I prophesied that candidate Tae-woo Roh would be elected as the president, and then that Young Sam Kim and Dae Joong Kim would be presidents.

Even for the current president, I had already given you some clues.
I prophesied the winning the election of Reagan in the US and of Prime Minister Thatcher in the UK.

God let us know about the deaths of India’s woman Prime Minister Gandhi and Chernenko, the Secretary General of the former Soviet Union. Recently, God also let me know about the death of a leader in the Middle East that was hidden even to his entourage. I prophesied about Kosovo in 1999, and how this incident would reoccur.

I have been prophesying about the oil prices and situations in the Middle East, and that the world will be divided into three main powers including the US and Europe.
I also prophesied that the “Sunshine Policy” would fail and that North Korea would open its doors and then close again.

Besides, God gave us so many prophecies and each of them was and is being fulfilled as said.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, God who knows the flow of world history also knows the heart and future of each of you.

I hope you will commit your life into the hands of the omniscient and omnipotent God. Then, God will lead you only to the way of prosperity and blessings.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, and viewing audiences, John 4:48 says, “‘Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders,’ Jesus told him, ‘you will never believe.'”

Even today, God manifests many kinds of works like signs and wonders and prophecies of things that are impossible by man. Through these, even those who did not believe are able to acknowledge God. Those who already have faith can have even greater faith.

When I conduct overseas crusades, the manifestation of God’s power is the reason countless souls accept the Lord and are saved. Just by a 20- plus-minute sermon and prayers for a couple of minutes, numerous people are healed and testify. Hundreds and thousands of people have filled the stage to testify.

Then, not only those who see this on location, but also those who are watching on the Internet and satellite TV come to acknowledge the living God. Although the religions, cultures, languages, and races are different, they open their hearts and accept the Lord before the power of God.

If any of you do not believe in God yet, I urge you to believe in Him at this moment.

And I hope you will also experience the power of the omnipotent God in your life.

I hope even those who already have faith will have a stronger faith and meet and experience God every day.

I pray in the name of the Lord that you will glorify God and lead so many souls to the way of salvation with your testimonies.

“My entire family met the living God, and started a home church”

Vandna (30, Delhi India)

Because I married Hindu man, my Christian life was not easy. My family persecuted me severely. I had to hide and pray. Thank God, after 8 years of prayer and fasting, my husband accepted the Lord, and I could go to church together with him.

I visited many churches, but there was an unquenched thirst in my heart. I was looking for a pastor who can teach me true word of God, and who is full of love.

“The author of this book, ‘The Message of the Cross’ can surely lead to the truth!”

One day, my neighbour handed me the books “The Message of the Cross,” “The Measure of Faith,” and “Hell.” After I read those books, I realized that Dr. Jaerock Lee, the author of those books, is the true pastor who can lead to the truth.” I wished to meet him, and to visit Manmin Church.

Soon, I was happy to find that there would be a healing testimony and seminar held by a medical team from Church. While I was there I was so touched there by the words of life, the works of God’s power, praise and worship, and prayer. Tears continued to run down from my eyes when Pastor John of Church prayed with the handkerchief on which Dr. Jaerock Lee had prayed.

From August of 2015, I began going to Church, and since then, many changes occurred in my life. My husband and I used to argue a lot, but now we’ve come to understand each other. My family became a family of peace that has nothing to do with diseases.

For many months, I couldn’t sleep well at night because of nerve trembling in my legs. But after receiving Dr Jaerock Lee’s prayer for the sick, I was healed. My two sons used to go to hospital because of pneumonia, but after attending Manmin Church, they never go to hospital. Especially, my second son couldn’t go to school for a month due to typhoid. But after receiving the handkerchief prayer of God’s power, he was healed.

My entire family, even my persecuting mother-in-law, experienced the power of God

Whenever I met sick people or people with problems, I testified to them about my healings and introduced Manmin Church. I told them why Jesus Christ is our Savior. As I told them about Dr. Jaerock Lee’s ‘The Message of the Cross’ with testimony of healing works, they were evangelized.

Pastor John of Church drove an hour to Dalokpura, and prayed for many people. Soon, I began to have Sunday Services at home and it became a home church with about 20 people attending. Now, we also have Daniel Prayer Meeting, Wednesday Service, and Friday All Night Service and God keeps sending new members, Hallelujah!

I have a very interesting testimony. There were many mice and ants in my house. After receiving prayer, they disappeared, but soon they came back again. Then, I heard the message about the whole tithe. I understood the will of God and obeyed it. Soon all the mice disappeared, and the ants in the house (even on the bed) were also gone. As we gave the whole tithe, my husband received the blessing of opening a business.

My mother-in-law used to suffer from a herniated disk and arthritis, but after receiving the handkerchief prayer of God’s power she was healed. She can now walk well. Before, she didn’t even want to hear the name of the Lord, but she’s changed. She confesses that she is a sheep of Manmin.

The Message of the Cross(1) – God the Creator

[Genesis 1: 1]
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Viewing audiences all over the world, I am very glad to meet you in the name of Jesus Christ.

I am Rev. Jaerock Lee, the senior pastor of Manmin Central Church, located in Seoul Korea.

The title of the messages that I would like to share with you from today is the “Message of the Cross.”

The “Message of the Cross” clearly explains the “providence of God for human salvation.”

It is deep secret that was hidden since before the time began and lets us realize the great love and justice of God. “Who is God?”

“What is the reason God created heaven and earth, everything in it, mankind, and let him live on this earth?”

“Why did God place the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?” “Who is Jesus Christ and why is He the only Savior for the mankind?”

“Why do we receive salvation when we believe in Jesus Christ?” The message of the cross contains all the answers to these questions.
Since I first preached this message in 1985, it has led numerous souls not only in Korea but also all over the world to the way of salvation.

This message has been spread on audio and video tapes, by broadcasting and in books.
Countless people experienced wondrous works of God through this message.

They repented their sins from the depth of their heart and they came to have true faith and sound hope for the kingdom of heaven. They came to discard their sins and live in God’s Word.

When I prayed in the name of Jesus Christ after they repented of their sins through the message, they experienced wonderful works of God’s power. Diseases were cured and infirmities were made well. Demons and the power of darkness were driven out.

Whoever listened to the way of salvation and realized the way of salvation experienced wondrous works of God’s power performed in the name of Jesus Christ.

I pray in the name of the Lord that you will experience these wonderful works through this message of the cross preached as of today.

Dear brothers and sisters, when you attend church and lead a life in Christ, you will hear about the way of salvation in Christianity.

Let us briefly review it. About 2,000 years ago, Jesus, the Son of God, came to this earth to redeem the mankind from their sins.

Jesus was crucified to redeem the sins of the mankind and was buried. He resurrected on the third day. Those who believe in this fact will be forgiven of sins and receive salvation to go to heaven. Many of you know this much.

But we cannot say we truly know the providence of God contained in the message of the cross with only this much knowledge.

For example, why do you think God placed the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?

The reason why mankind became sinners is because Adam ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Had the tree not existed, Adam wouldn’t have sinned, so he could have lived in the Garden of Eden forever in comfort.

So, should God not have made the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in first place? Why did God put the tree where Adam could eat from it?

Didn’t God know that Adam would eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? God is omnipotent and omniscient and He surely knew it.

Still, God put the tree of knowledge there. So, what is the reason?

Can you answer to this question clearly?
Have you ever heard a clear answer to this question anywhere before?
Of course, it is not that we will not be saved if we do not know why God placed the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
If we repented of our sins and accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, we can be saved.

But if you understand the deeper contents contained in the way of salvation, you can have more sound faith.
You will understand the heart and will of God clearly and lead a victorious Christian life. You will be able to drive away temptations of the devil and enjoy the rights of the children of God, who is the light.

Let me give you an example. If you eat an orange, just eating it will definitely benefit you.
But, it would be better if you eat it knowing what kinds of nutrients it has and how those nutrients benefit us.

For example, let us suppose you came to know an orange has a lot of vitamin C and that this is good for the skin, it reduces tiredness, and promotes resistance against diseases.
Then, you will eat it not only because it is delicious but you will also eat it when you need it.
It is the same in the life in faith.

You should not just say, “I believe,” but clearly understand the providence of salvation in the cross and live according to God’s will. Then, you will be able to advance towards heaven with firm faith and receive blessings on this earth as God’s children.

I urge you to imprint on your heart the message of the cross that I will preach beginning today.

I pray in the name of the Lord that you will realize God’s providence of salvation in the cross and receive grace and strength.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, members who are attending the service through the satellite all over the country, members of branch churches, local sanctuaries, Light and Salt mission, Restaurant Mission, members who are attending the service on the Internet all over the world, viewing audiences, and [children of Sunday school] the first part that you will learn in the message of the cross is things about God.
Many people in this world insist that there is no god. There are also other people who worship gods created by man’s imagination or make images of God’s creatures and worship them as gods.

But even though we cannot see Him, God is surely living, and there is only the one and the only God whom we have to worship.

God is the creator of the universe, of all things, and mankind. He is the ruler and judge of all things. What kind of being is God?

In fact, it is not easy for man to explain about God. Man is a mere creature. God transcends all limits of man. God is limitless.

No matter how much we contemplate with our knowledge, we cannot fully understand and know about God.

But even though we cannot fully know about God, there are basic things that we have to know as God’s children. I will talk about four different aspects of who God is.

First, God is the Creator of heaven and earth. Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Chapter 1 of Genesis tells us that for six days, God created the heavens and earth from nothing with His Word. On the last day of 6-day creation, He made the first man, Adam, the ancestor of all mankind.

Likewise, because man is created by God, he instinctively feels the existence of God deep in his heart.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

As said, God gave man eternity in their hearts.

Because they have this, those with good conscience vaguely acknowledge the existence of God and look for Him even if they do not hear or know about God.

Even among those who say, “I don’t believe in God,” there are those who fear the life to come thinking, “What if there is a heaven and hell?”

So, they try to live in goodness not to go to hell.

But Romans 1:20 says, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”

As said, even though we do not see God directly, we can realize that there is God the Creator and there is only one Creator, because the evidence of the God the Creator is embedded in all things in the universe that were created by God.

Let me give you one such example. There are many people in this world.
There are many races and ethnic groups who have different languages, cultures, and colors of the skin.

But all of them have some things in common. All peoples and ethnic groups have two eyes. They all have two ears, one nose, and one mouth.

The locations are all the same. At the center of the face is the nose and the eyes are at the upper part;

The mouth is below the nose, and the ears are on each side of the face.

But it’s not that only human beings have the same structure and locations. It is the same with animals: the birds of the air, insects, and fish in the sea. There is subtle difference according to the traits of each species, but basically they all have the same structure.

Furthermore, they have the similar structures of digestive system and reproduction system. The reason for this similarity is because things were created by the design of only one God the Creator.

The people of the world insist on the theory of Darwinism, and deny the creation by God.
But if the mankind has been evolved like they say, we would not have had the same structure.
We could have evolved into many kinds of forms and structures.

Also, if there were more than one creator, men and animals would not have had the same structures in the same ways.

It is because, if there were many creators, they would have made their creatures with the structures and functions according to their preferences.

But seeing that almost all things have one structure and function, we can surely understand that they were precisely designed and created by only one God the Creator.

Dear brothers and sisters, Darwinists say that living organisms have evolved from low level organisms into higher level organisms.

But Genesis 1:21 says, “So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.”

Also, Genesis 1:25 says, “God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.”

There have been slight changes in the forms with the passing of time, but God created everything according to its own kind.

Fish have not evolved to become mammals, and mammals then to birds. It is not that apes evolved into human beings. Apes were created as apes and human beings as human beings. Also, only men were created as a being that has spirit, soul, and body in the image of God.

No matter how much an ape resembles a human being, it cannot realize the existence of God and worship Him like a man for it does not have spirit.

Also, when we look at nature, we can see more evidence of God the Creator. The earth rotates once a day and revolves around the sun once a year, and the moon revolves around the earth once a month.

Through these revolutions and rotations, we have orderly phenomena on earth.

We have day and night and the four seasons. There are ebb and flow of tides and circulations of the air.

And, these movements and locations of the heavenly bodies are set precisely to be appropriate and suitable for men and living organisms to have life. The distance between the sun and the earth and between the earth and moon in its orbit is always at the most appropriate distance.
It cannot either be closer or farther than now.

The earth has been rotating and revolving in such an orderly way without the slightest error, at the most appropriate distance, for an immeasurable amount of time.
Do you think all these orders could have happened by the Big Bang as some scientists insist?

Why not use some common sense? If you open a watch, there are many sophisticated parts assembled very accurately to make the watch move.

Let us now suppose somebody is showing it to you and telling you the following: “Nobody has made this watch. The parts came out by a volcano eruption and they were assembled by themselves and they began to move.” Would you be able to believe this? Unless you are a fool, you will never believe it.

But saying this world and everything in it were made by evolution makes less sense than saying this.

How could the movement of a universe, which is incomparably more precise and accurate than that of a watch, be the result of chance?
How could such an elaborate universe move in strict order by itself?

This is possible only because the universe and everything in it was designed and created, and is ruled by the wisdom of God.

God the Creator made all these things with His power and is moving them. Because we have this kind of evidence, nobody can give an excuse on the final Judgment Day.

Nobody can say, “I thought there was no God!”

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, why is it that people do not believe, seeing such clear evidence of the creation?

It is because they tend to believe only what is seen in their eyes, touched by their hands, and understood with their knowledge and thoughts.

They do not tend to acknowledge the fact that there is a living invisible God. They do not acknowledge the signs and wonders recorded in the Bible.

But all the words in the Bible are truth itself. It is true that God created the heavens and the earth, and the signs, wonders, and powerful works actually took place.

These things can be done only by God the Creator. John 4:48 says, “Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders,’ Jesus told him, ‘you will never believe.”

The thoughts and frameworks of men break down when they see signs and wonders that are beyond human limits.

When they experience something by the work of God that they thought was absolutely impossible, only then can they accept that only the Word of God is truth, although it does not coincide with their thoughts.

So, in the Bible, God showed us that He is the living God through the numerous works and miracles of His power.

To the Pharaoh and his officials in Egypt, Moses demonstrated the living God through the Ten Plagues.
Elijah brought down fire from heaven and let the heaven give rain after 3 and half years of drought.

Jesus proved that He is the Son of God through signs and wonders.

The apostle Paul healed diseases and infirmities, drove out demons, and revived the dead in the name of Jesus Christ. When people saw these things that could be done only by God the Creator, even unbelievers acknowledged God the Creator. They accepted the gospel and the Savior Jesus Christ.

Even in the times in which we are living today, these works of God are a must.
The power of God manifesting signs and wonders is the most solid evidence to let unbelievers believe in the living God, the Creator.

Countless signs and wonders have been taking place in this church since its opening, and as the time goes by, more powerful works are taking place.

For example, incurable diseases such as cancers and AIDS, and infirmities and physical disabilities are all being healed by the power of God.

These healing works are medically verified by the medical doctors in many countries including Philippines, Honduras, India, Russia, Germany, and Peru. Through these evidences, numerous people around the world have come to accept God and believe in Him in their heart.

Even those with much knowledge and those who had been worshipping idols came to acknowledge God the Creator and believe in Him seeing the works of the living God.

There are just so many such cases, but let me introduce to you just a couple of them.

Sr. Deaconess Eun Deuk Kim of Manmin Joong-ang Church was burned over almost her whole body by boiling water that was spilled.

She was severely burned on most her body except some parts including face and hands.

As you can see on the screen, the burn was so severe that she would have died, even if she had gone to the hospital. But when I prayed in the name of Jesus Christ, the heat left her body and the pain was gone.

Then, the cells of the nerves, veins, and skin that had been cooked by boiling water began to reproduce.

Since the cells that had been burned were already dead, they could not be regenerated by human method.

But God the Creator, who created men, completely reproduced the burned parts all anew.
She never took any medicine or went to the hospital, but her flesh was healed completely like the flesh of a baby.

In most cases, people are left with ugly scars even after treatment in hospitals.

But after receiving my prayers, she had no scarring at all, even though her burns were so severe.
She is now leading a happy and healthy life, serving the kingdom of God.

There are many other members of Manmin who had severe burns and were also healed by receiving prayer with faith. In those cases, all of them were healed very quickly without being left with any scar, although they did not apply any medicine.

Also, in July 2002, when we had a united crusade attended by hundreds of thousands of people in Honduras, numerous amazing works of God took place. Let me just tell you one of those cases.

Maria Dominguez, who was then 12 years old, had lost the sight of her right eye when she was two, and received a cornea transplant.

But the surgery didn’t go well, and she could not see any light for 10 years. But when she attended the Honduras crusade and received the prayer, she came to see.

By the power of God the Creator who made the eye of man, her dead nerves were revived. In addition to these cases, there are just so many works of God the Creator taking place in our church. You can see these works for yourself on our church website or homepages of Manmin TV and other affiliated organizations.
As we can see through these evidences, God is truly living and is the Creator who created heavens and earth and everything in it.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Psalm 53:1 says, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good.”

The foolish and evil try to deny God only because they cannot see Him.

But as testified in the message today, God is truly living. The evidence of God the Creator is clearly seen in nature and the works of His power.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 says, “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”

I hope you will certainly believe in God, fear Him, and keep His commandments.
When you do your duty of man in that way, God the Creator will lead you to the kingdom of heaven and give answers to your prayers and desires of your heart.

He can even solve the problems that cannot be solved by man with His power.

When you receive the answers and blessings in this way, you can preach the gospel more strongly to unbelievers saying, “I have met and experienced God in this way!”

I pray in the name of the Lord that you will experience God’s works in your everyday life and give glory to Him.

Measure of Faith(1) – Fleshly Faith and Spiritual Faith

[Hebrews 11:1-3]
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.”

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,we who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior have been forgiven of our sins and received salvation.

By faith we are able to understand that God, who is spirit, is living and also that there is heaven and hell in the life to come.

It is also by faith that we receive salvation and go to the kingdom of heaven and that we receive answers to our prayers. Likewise, faith is a very important thing. But while many people confess their faith in God, the magnitude of experiencing God’s works is all different according to each one’s faith.

Some have great faith and receive answers to anything they ask. Also when they pray for others, God’s works take place. On the other hand, some say they believe in God, but when they have problems, they cannot receive the answer of God. There are others who do not even think to rely on God in the first place.

Some think they are saved, but have no true assurance of salvation in their heart, so they have fear of the life to come. Also, they think they truly believe, but have questions because they do not receive the answers as written in the Bible.

Therefore, for you to lead a life-filled Christian life, you first have to understand what faith is. Also, you should understand each one has a different measure of faith and experience a different magnitude of God’s works, although everybody says he has faith. Therefore, from today, I will preach the message covering the measure of faith in Sunday morning services.

Through the messages of the “Measure of Faith”, I will explain about Spiritual Faith with which we can receive salvation and answers to problems, and how we can have greater faith.

I hope you will check your faith through the upcoming messages and have spiritual faith and great faith.

I pray in the name of the Lord that you will be able to experience the works of the living God everyday.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, this is the first session on the measure of faith, and I will first talk to you about ‘fleshly faith’ and ‘spiritual faith’. Faith is the most precious treasure of treasures and the key to solve all life problems.

Almighty God the Creator can do things that cannot be done by human power or ability. The Bible tells us about impossible things becoming possible such as stopping the sun and the moon from moving, parting the Red Sea into two, winning the victories in battles, and reviving the dead.

Likewise God is omnipotent and omniscient, and thus, only if we have faith, there will be no difficulty in receiving healing to diseases and infirmities and answers to various problems.

The important thing is that we must have true faith. No matter how much we call God the Father with our lips and pray, “Lord, I believe!”, if we do not have true faith, we cannot experience works of God.

Today, there are many churchgoers but many of them do not even know the meaning of faith. They say they ‘believe’, but don’t even have the assurance of salvation. They suffer from diseases and go through tests and trials just like the worldly people. They also can’t receive the answers to their prayers.

Jesus said in Mark 9:23, “And Jesus said to him, “‘If You can!’ All things are possible to him who believes.'” Also, Matthew 8:13 says, “. . .let it be done to you as you have believed.”

The words recorded in the Bible are 100% true. If God says nothing is impossible for he who believes, it actually means nothing is impossible. Also, if we pray with faith, there must be the answer to the prayer.

If we do not receive the answer though we pray with faith, we should check whether our faith is really true faith or not. Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.”

Also, Hebrews 11:6 says that we cannot please God without faith. Only if you please God with faith, God will answer whatever you desire, and the way to please God is through faith.

Here, this faith must be true faith that can be acknowledged by God.

The reason why many people do not see the work of God although they profess they believe is that they do not have faith that can be acknowledged by God.

In faith, there is the true, spiritual faith, that God can acknowledge. There is also fleshly faith that God cannot acknowledge.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, then, what is fleshly faith and what is spiritual faith? Let us first look into fleshly faith.

Fleshly faith, first of all, is the faith with which you believe what you can check with your eyes and the things that agree with your thoughts and knowledge. But even the worldly people can have this kind of faith that has nothing to do with salvation.

For example, if I say, ‘This towel is white in color,’ those who see that it is white will believe what I say. If I say, ‘we can make chairs with wood,’ you can believe that too. It is because it agrees with your knowledge that you have learned since your birth.

But let us suppose that one of you has been taught that the color of this towel is not white but black.

Then, if I say it is white, that person cannot believe it at all. It is because it does not agree with the knowledge.

Likewise, depending on what kind of knowledge you’ve accepted, you may think something true is false or vice versa. But it is a fact that not everything that you have been learning is true.

There are things in the world that people think they are true but there are also things that change over time. Also, the standards and ways of thinking are very different in different countries, races, and even among individuals.

Only the word of God is the absolute and ultimate truth that never changes.

For example, a long time ago, people learned that the earth was not round but flat. They learned that the sun revolved around earth, not that the earth revolves around the sun.

At that time, people thought it was true, but nobody today believes it as the truth. Similarly, many parts of the knowledge you have right now are not true.

But people just believe whatever they have been taught as the truth. In this condition, even though somebody tells them the truth, they think that truth is untruth if it does not agree with their own knowledge.

Many people do not believe in God the Creator even after hearing the gospel for this kind of a reason. Because they have been learning that the false theory called “Darwinism” is true, they do not believe in creationism, which is actually the real truth.

Darwinism is not the truth but a false theory completely formed by human thoughts.
Even after millions of billions of years, fish can never become animals on the ground, or apes. But those who have been learning it firmly believe evolutionism is the truth.

That is why if somebody says that God created heaven and earth with His word, they think it is not true. But there are also some people who say they believe in the Almighty God but do not believe the Bible completely but only the parts that agree with their theories and knowledge.

But if you want to use only worldly theories and knowledge to explain the world, there are so many unbelievable things in the Bible.

In the world, there must material existing to make a product. But the Bible says that the heaven and earth were created from nothingness by the word of God. So, they cannot believe it.

Also, they cannot understand the powerful works that are impossible by men’s ability.
So, when they read about signs and wonders, they think it did not really take place but it is just a parable or symbolization. If it says Peter walked on water, they interpret that he walked on a shallow part.

If somebody says his disease was healed by taking medicine and a surgery, they believe. But when they hear somebody is healed just by prayer, they doubt that there must be something else. Or, they think such things might have happened long ago, but not any more.

But this kind of faith has nothing to do with God. It is not spiritual faith with which we can receive salvation. True faith is to believe all of the words of the Bible are God’s word and absolute truth regardless of what kind of knowledge we have.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, next, faith that changes is also fleshly faith. With changing faith we cannot receive the answer from God.

Some people pray hard, worship God diligently and lead an enthusiastic Christian life to receive the answer to the desires in their heart. But if they do not receive the answer quickly enough, they begin to doubt.

“Is God really living? Does He really listen to my prayers?” If they begin to doubt like this, they lose the grace. So, they think even the answers they received before or the testimonies of other people receiving the answers were coincidence.

James 1:6-7 says, “But let him ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,”

We cannot say this kind of faith that changes is true faith.

Mark 11:24 says, “Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they shall be [granted] you.”

It doesn’t say that by believing you will receive them, but you that have already received them.

It is the same with problems of diseases. The second half of 1 Peter 2:24 says, “. . .for by His wounds you were healed.”

About 2,000 years ago, Jesus suffered and redeemed us from all our sins and curses, and we who believe in this are healed. Therefore, if you receive prayer with faith, you will not have pains in your life any more but be joyful and thankful being filled with hope.

Also, only when your faith does not change although you don’t have the visible evidences right now, your faith can be recognized as true faith.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, next, it is dead faith to just know in our head what faith is and not have the accompanying actions. Knowing the word of God and believing it are two different things.

We should believe God’s word not in our head but in our deepest heart, and only then will our deeds follow according to the word.

But if you know it only as knowledge your deeds will not follow. This kind of faith as just knowledge cannot be recognized by God as spiritual faith. With this faith, you cannot harvest the fruit of faith.

For example, God says that He will let you reap what you sow. This is the rule of the spiritual realm that applies to everything, including health and wealth.

The widow in Zarepath obeyed God’s command with faith and gave her last food to Elijah during the long famine.

With human thoughts, that food was same as life to her and she couldn’t have given it away. But she obeyed with action because she believed.

As a result, she received a blessing in such a way that the bin of flour was not exhausted nor did the jar of oil become empty.

She experienced God’s works of blessing on her 30, 60, and 100 hundred times more (than given).

On the contrary, those who have fleshly faith know this fact in their head but when they are in difficulties, they cannot act. If they are short of living expenses, they sometimes cannot give proper tithes and become stingy about giving various offerings.

If they truly believe God will pay them back with blessings for whatever they sow before God, they will never be stingy. But, because they know it only as knowledge, their deeds do not follow.

Therefore, even though they pray saying, “I believe you will give me blessings,” they cannot reap the fruit of their prayers.
For another example, it is the same with the problem of diseases. Let us say you have cancer, and that your father is the best cancer specialist in the world and he has the ability to heal you.

If you really trust your father’s skills, you will go to your father. You will not go to other doctors.

In the same way, if you truly believe that God is truly omnipotent and omniscient, you can ask God when you have a disease. Why should you use worldly methods?

People rely on other people and use the worldly methods because, although they know the power of God in their brain, they do not believe in their heart. How much will our God be saddened looking at these faithless deeds?

2 Kings 16:12-13 talks about King Asa’s disease and his death. It says, “And in the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa became diseased in his feet. His disease was severe, yet even in his disease he did not seek the LORD, but the physicians. So Asa slept with his fathers, having died in the forty-first year of his reign.”
God left this record in the Bible to let us realize how much we disappoint God if we rely on the world while saying that we believe in Him.

It’s the same in all other cases. The Bible tells us to rejoice always, give thanks in all circumstances, pray without ceasing, love our enemies, and have peace with everybody. Even if we memorize all these verses, those who do not act upon them have only fleshly faith, and they cannot experience the works of God.

James 2:26 says, “For just as the body without [the] spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.”

With dead faith we cannot receive either the answers or the blessings. We might even fall away from salvation. Please, remember this fact and have faith accompanied with deeds.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Then, what is spiritual faith? Spiritual faith can be explained as the opposite of the fleshly faith I just explained.

Even though word of God does not agree with your personal thoughts and knowledge, if you can still believe every word of God, then that is spiritual faith. Once you believe in this way, your faith never changes, and you obey with deeds in action according to God’s word.

If you have this spiritual faith, you can create something from nothing, and as said in Matthew 17:20, you will command this mountain to move from here to there, and it will move, and there will be nothing impossible for you. You can receive answers to any kind of problem in your family, work place, business, or health, and you can accomplish the kingdom of God with His power.

But, though you possess spiritual faith, the measure of each one’s faith is all different.

Those with great spiritual faith having a full measure of faith will receive answers by simply having the desire in their heart, while those with a small measure of faith have to pray for many days for the same desire.

But if men can have all the spiritual faith they want, everybody would want to have greater faith. But we cannot possess spiritual faith just because we want to have it. It can only be given by God.

Then, how can we receive spiritual faith? If you know the way to receive spiritual love, the gate of answers and blessings will be opened wide for the desires of your heart.

I will explain to you how to receive spiritual faith.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, did you check whether your faith is fleshly faith or spiritual faith through today’s message?

Of course, none of you would say, “I have 100% spiritual faith.” But at the same time, your faith is not all fleshly faith.

Many of you have spiritual faith, but you have different measures of that faith. You are still on the way of accomplishing the perfection in spiritual faith.

The messages that you will hear in Sunday morning services will be about the different measures of spiritual faith, how to grow from small faith to great faith, and how to change our faith into spiritual faith.

Through the messages, you should be able to find yourself and have spiritual faith so that you can obey the words you hear with action. You will believe even though it does not agree with your thoughts, knowledge, and theories. And, your faith will never change in any circumstances.

Then, as said, “nothing is impossible for him who believes,” God’s promises will be realized in your life and you will experience such amazing works that are recorded in the Bible.

You will be able to overcome any kind of hardship with faith, receive answers to your prayers, and show the evidence of the living God to the worldly people who do not believe.

I pray in the name of the Lord that you will quickly accomplish spiritual faith, please God, and experience the works of God everyday.
